Probably not this..... but worth mentioning....

Inner Power Steering Rack Ends. ( Common thing )

Is your noise inside the cabin or out?

swerks:

I dont know if this is it, but i had this crazy rattle that happened everytime i went over a bump. It was coming from the rear suspension.

Turns out it was from a part located within the rear tow hitch. It was this piece of metal that kept twanging up against the inner wall of the tow hitch.

And yes, it was a 99 too.

1. Raise the front of the vehicle.

2. Turn the key on. Turn key off. Leave key in. ( keeps wheel unlocked ).

3. Grab one of your front wheels at 3 and 9 oclock.

4. Wiggle the tire back and forth.

If there is play in the steering system, you should be able to feel it while wiggling it back and forth.
