I have a 92 4runner with the HD Downey rear springs and 25 mm torsion bars in the front. My truck looked quite a bit bigger so I put in 4.88's with detroit Lockers and bought me a set of 33/12.5/15 BFG's. No rubs on the street but rubs when I wheel. This is no good. I need a Lift. I am 1 3/4 inch over stock in front and 2+ over stock in rear. I want the truck to clear 33's no problem. What brand lift do you guys recomend? No body lifts for me. I need something strong that will last. Anything that will clear 35"?

 

it would be easiest for you to get a 2" body lift and call it a day. but i guess you dont wanna do that

all the IFS are essentially the same from what i hear and none of them will let you clear 35s.

get the pro comp stage II and 33s or add a 1" body lift for 35s.

 

I've got an 88 that I bought with a 3" body lift and the guy that owned it before me welded some of the mounts...So I couldn't get rid of it too easily...lol...anyway....when I went to my local offroad shop I told him that I was looking at the ProComp Stage II lift....but they guy told my that he could do a couple of things....Since lift kits that include blocks are illegal here in Maine, I had to go with a lift that came with rear leafs.....ProComp didn't....So I could've went with a ProComp front and a Superlift rear.....But I decided to go with the full Superlift setup...it was cheaper to....It was around $978.00 if I remember correctly.....But of course that was the price for just the parts...I installed it myself.....and it was also the price for an 99 4Runner...not a newer truck....So I don't know if any of the parts are going to be different....Hope that helped....

I don't think you can really clear 35's on an IFS without a body lift. If you want big tires and lift you might consider the high dollar option of a spring over solid axle conversion, but you would be looking at $3500+ from what I've found so far.
Total Chaos makes a pretty decent looking setup, but you only get 3" of lift http://www.aor4x4.com/gofast.htm and if you can hold on until they finish it, Downey is working on a really wicked looking IFS setup http://www.downeyoff-road.com/9_1_Projects.htm<--scroll down to the bottom, but I suspect neither of those kits would permit 35's either without body lifts.

I know you said no body lifts, but all you need to clear 33s is a 1inch body lift and cut the front fender slightly. It is a pretty tried and true formula for 2nd gens and a lot of wheelers use it. The advantage this formula has over a suspension lift is a lower center of gravity and it's cheap.

I ended up ditching the Downey coils and getting a Superlift 4" lift. Because of the 25MM torsion bars the truck sat prerunner style after the install. I took it to Pismo Beach to try out the new equipment. It clears 33's but I am not happy with the quality of the Superlift rear coils. They are too soft at first and then stiff as a board. The ride is worse than stock! I miss my Downey coils . The other thing if you are considering a superlift you might as well figure in the price for new shocks as well because the ones that the kit comes with have too little resistance for the weight of 33's. I added a coil spacer to even the front and rear ride hight. It took a 2.5" spacer to acheive this. So I guess that I have a 6.5" lift. I tried my buddy's 35" swampers and they were totally streetable but would need some fender triming for offroad use. I will stick with 33" though ( To tall with 35's).

Cool, how did the install go with the Superlift? Have any pics with the lift installed?

 

ive heard that some land cruiser coils will work in the rear and that they add about 5.5in. of lift in the rear over stock and flex pretty well. Edit: i belive they are fj-80 coils.

I will look into the 5.5" rear coil from the fj- 80 for my 4runner. I will try to get a picture or two on here asap. I did not do the install of the superlift kit. The truck is my daily driver so I needed the lift installed in one day and if I would have done it the truck would have sat in my driveway for a week. Everything went fine with the install I just was not real happy with the look and ride after the install.

This is great I will order a pair tomarrow. I can't wait to get rid of what I currently have. Anybody want to buy a pair of 4" lift superlift coils with 2.5" spacers? I guess I won't even need the superlift rear shocks!!!! There is less than 5000 miles on the setup. My opinion, the ride sucks with this setup. The Downey coils are better. All though, I'm really picky about my truck.

 

i have 4" trailmaster diff drop set up with 2" body lift andi clear 35s no problem. i think i could almost do it w/o the body lift, but itd be REALLY close!
