I, too, have drilled my air box....**UPDATE** DO NOT DO THIS MOD, IT IS DANGEROUS

Now I want a cookie! It sounds a little more throaty-growly-thingy, but just a little... anyway I felt pretty tough going at it with the drill...makes me want to go hunt or gather or something.

WOW...I JUST got pulled over by the cops. I couldn't resist testing out my mod, so I was going pretty fast (70) in a 25 zone...it was really dark so I didn't see the cop going the other way, but he slammed it in reverse and did a U turn, so, being the retard I am, I turn off the street, then hit another street, which unfortunately was a dead end. The cop musta been movin' pretty quick, cause I realized he was RIGHT behind me. Well, needless to say, I thought I was ****ED, but apparently he never got a good read on my speed, he did a COMPLETE 360 inspection of my car though...looked in ALL the windows, checked all the back areas, took my liscense, registration, insurance...I thought he was gonna ask me to step out of the car...but instead he was like "next time you want to see how fast you can go, do it on the bypass, oh, and DON'T try to evade an officer" I was like "Sorry officer, won't happen again, sir, have a wonderful fantastic super night" and then he got in his car and drove off !!! But the moral of the story is....don't do this mod, it will make you want to go fast to hear the roar of the intake, and you'll get busted

Last time I got nabbed for speeding I ended up talking cars with the cop for 20 minutes and didn't get a ticket.

Uh-oh... it sounds like someone's about to dip into the world of the RRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAARRRRRRR!!!!!!!

Here're a couple of links to give you some background:

http://www.toyotaoffroad.net/jnburtman/deckplate.html

https://www.yotatech.com/~corey/tech.../deckplate.htm

The short form is that it's a way to get more air into your engine. In general, that translates to more power.

A nice companion to this mod is the "ISR" mod (Intake Silencer Removal). That can be seen here:

https://www.yotatech.com/~corey/tech...ntake/dr_z.htm

Have fun!

Mark

Mark, I think livelarg was referring to the mod Joey just did.
There is a write-up in the Tech section on it in the Performance section.

It's way different then the Deckplate mod.
Joey did this to the 3.0 engine.
Very easy to do.
