I've only had these Downey rear coils on for about a year and they look like they are sagging to me. What do you guys think? From the top of my 15" rim to the bottom of the chrome trim I measured 13 inches. The front suspension sits at about 14.5". These are not the HD coils. Perhaps it was a mistake to go with the softer ride. Any input is greatly appreciated.[IMG][/IMG]

 

do you have any "before" pics from when you first put the coils in? it looks kinda saggy to me.

 

Unfortunately I don't have any before pics. :pat: I could have swore that when they were new, the rear actually sat higher than the front. I'll probably have to buy another pair (HD's this time of course). Has anyone had any problems with downey coils.

 

Looks like just a little sag but it also looks like you are on an incline. How does it look on flat ground?

 

or maybe see if there is a warrenty or anything and see if you can return them?

 

Good idea, I will give them a call tomorrow. Bike4miles, That is pretty much level ground. I may have been holding the camera a little sideways.

 

I've had mine for about 8-9 months and mine are still completely level...usually the rear sags because of all the sound equipment that I've got back there. But its level when its empty, maybe its because of the regular coils versus the HD's but I'm not sure.

A couple things:

1. You're assuming the front and rear fenders are supposed to be the same height from the ground. I don't think they are.

2. All springs will settle over time it doesn't matter what kind they are. They'll settle much faster at the beginning and will eventually stop. One year should be good enough and they should have settled completely by now. If they continue to settle much more, then maybe something is wrong.

3. Take a look at this picture and the lines I drew. Magnify the picture with your favorite photo editor to maybe 400x. Take a measuring tape to your screen and measure the vertical lines. You'll find the rear is higher slightly. Edit: Actually, a better place to measure to is the horizontal line in the doors. I measured that and the rear still came out higher than the front, but by a little less.

 

 

Yea, robinhood is right, the top of the rear weel well is definetly lower than the front so the gap in the rear should be less for the truck to be leval.

 

Yeah, hes right...thats the illusion that always gets me, you should be OK man. As robinhood said, at this point they should have settled completely so you should be OK.

Im looking into buyingthe HD coils from them on tuesday. I hope I dont encounter this problome

 

My HD coils have not sagged since having them on from the spring of '99.

If you exchange them, get the HD ones.

 

look at all the toyotas lines... the front fenders are arched up higher than the rears... look at their positioning in hieght to the pinchweld of the vehicle.. the front fender is up higer than the rear thus looking like the rear sags.... my 85 4x2 is the same way also....
