i have changed the front inner and outer wheal bearing on both front and left side. Did not do back ones. It also went and bought new tires since tread was low and need to be replaced. Still getting noise. Any ideas on why?

Roaring noise could be anything. If you suspect the wheels, try listening down by the wheel. Jack up one and spin by hand.

Maybe do the same thing down by the driveshaft and feel for any roughness as you turn...I knows there are posts here on how to check.

Roaring...as in howling, like air passing through somewhere? Could be something else entirely...

Other symptoms?

 

Was it making this noise since you owned the truck or did it suddenly start?
Did you happen to recently put a cold air intake (CAI) on the truck?
If so it could be that..I had one on my old Tacoma and sold it after a month because the noise was so annoying

 

I thought it might be the tires. They were 7 years old. And yeah its it just started making a roaring noise, like being In a hollow space and here a roar, like having mudgrip tires. But they are a/t's jist like the ones I had one truck. So I replaced the inner and outer bearings on the front end, both sides, and shocks are In good shape. Still roaring just like I did nothing at all. But get past 48 mph, and it starts. No rough start out and spin the rotors to and wheels to see if we could feel a vibration on springs I known the is a bearing on the driveshaft. Possible? Anything can help. And again, it just started 2 weeks ago and parked only move it to fix what I think is wrong. Any ideas ?? Thank you in advance. Josh

Have any of your roads been paved lately or had work done.

I have one stretch of road the surface is so different until I remember I think a major failure is about to happen.

Any fluids leaking around the rear axle or transmission ?

 

Thanks for al the replies. I finally found out what was doing it and it was my u-joint. There were 2 out the 3 bearing that were broken and the u-joint was about to come loose from drive shaft. So with the u-joint about to break free, caused the bearing to jam. Why at 40 to 45 mph then no roar at all, mechanic said I was lucky the u-joint didnt come loose and detach. Hope this feedback helps other Toyotq truck owners Josh

glad you found out the issue. a company I use to work for had a driveshaft come loose, it cause an accident totally the company truck.
