If you are asking about a drag only car, then locking the rear diff would be ideal - but a good limited slip should be sufficient in causing the rear to "posi up" when launching. Besides, with a locking rear diff, any turning will cause undue stress on the components, and could cause breakage, even when turning in the pit area.

I would say stick with the LSD.

"Posi up" is slang for "Positive Traction" - referring to both tires peeling out at the same time. That's my understanding anyway.

So, if your friend is trying to avoid being a "one-wheeler-peeler" and remain a daily driver at the same time, I would go with an LSD.

It sounds like you are asking if he could hook up a rear diff locking system similar to the TRD, or ARB set-ups. Well, all I know is that the TRD e-locker is not supposed to be operated above 5MPH, so that could pose a problem in a 1/4 mile run.

Of course, I dont know EXACTLY why Toyota has that restriction on the e-locker...

Well, I personally can't think of a reason you would need a locker if you were going more than 5 mph. It would be hard to crawl over obstacles at more than 5 mph.

However, I think it must just be engaged below 5mph, but once engaged, you can travel faster than that.

You might be right. Maybe they just dont want you to engage it above 5MPH, because it could damage it. From there, I guess you could go as fast as 4LO would let you.

Of course, I knew a trick to get the locker to stay on, even in 4HI.
