Your profile doesn't say where you are, but tube bumpers are illegal in some states. A group of guys here in WA just went through this after a "friendly" once-over by a herrif's deputy before a trail-run.

You'll wanna check your local regs.

That seems odd since these guys:

http://www.badlandbumpers.com

are making tube bumpers in WA. Not saying you're not correct, just noting some irony. Checking local regs is certainly a good idea.

Mike, that is who made the bumper in question that Mark mentioned.
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f100/wattora-snow-run-pics-47063/

Jim is going to get ahold of Jeff @ Badland's and see what can be done.
That was news to me too when I saw the trip report that Smokie was upset about Jim's front bumper.

a lot of products are made for vehicles that are not legal... thats why they are not for street use... look at the companies that make the aftermarket bumpers.... they are normally someone out of the garage, a fabricator. the bumpers are not stock and therefore do not follow the federal safety standards set forth by the US DOT.. they may well surpass the safety standards but they ahve not been tested.....

I've had a couple of folks write me offline asking for more info.

Corey linked to the thread that has the original mention of the issue. Rob later started a separate thread that talks about the WA state laws:

I've built a few to fit over the existing bumper for the people that like the tubes but don't want the open look, www.cbioffroadfab.com check out the images section.

Are you sure? Unless he just changed it, I didn't get any (just an "under construction" page and a link to images).

I'm running Firefox which blocks a lot of popups, but lets me know when it does and it didn't say anything. Looking at the source for the page doesn't look like it should have been pushing popups.

Any chance that you got hit by a popup spammer?

Where'd you get this from? This is almost exactly what I'm looking for but I also want a skid plate to protect the front end.

I made it. I still have some of the drawings from the original design if you ever want them. I had a skid plate on it originaly but I beat it up pretty bad so I decided to go with the bars underneath like in the first picture. Here is a link to a couple of pictures with the skid plate and without the winch and lights.

Mike, you may want to wander through these threads and look for Spyware/Spamware/PopupWare infections on your machine:

your hitch locks on the shackles is a pretty good (but expensive) idea!

very sorry if you had trouble with my web site, I've contacted my webmaster to have him look into it, and cure the problem if it's mine. Hammering you with pop-ups was not my intent.

If anyone else has had trouble with that please let me know.
