WATTORA Snow Run Pics
The day started out less than perfect. Trudie & I pulled into the Safeway parking lot and marveled at the number of Toys of all shape & size that were there. I parked my '84 toy, and my wife and I went inside to purchase something for a trail-side lunch. When we got back to the truck, everyone was laughing and pointing at MY TRUCK...! A large bird (I assume it was a seagull...didn't see it) decided my shiny red Toy was just to tempting a target. It splattered on the roof and rear window. I DID park under a light post where it must have been perched. As some of you might know, I'm kinda fussy about my little red toy truck. So, I couldn't stand it until I drove over to the nearest gas station and hosed the mess off. That was one lucky bird. Had this happened under more remote conditions in my presence, that might have been all she wrote for mr. seagull. As it stands now, he is no doubt patrolling the lot looking for other fools that park under his light stand.
We eventually headed up to the firestation off 74 to air down. That's when Deputy Dan (real name) decided to stop and say hi. And to tell us that our tube front bumpers were illegal, along with the height of some of the rigs and oversize tires. Etc....
Here is the scene that got Deputy Dan all excited
Deputy Dan
OK...with that behind us, we're ready for the trail! Things were progressing nicely. We were getting into a decent amount of snow, chatting on the CB and enjoying the ride. 'Stranglehold' on the radio low volume. Chillin. THEN...I loose power! WTF?!?
Here I am holding up the gang
Seems I had a carb jet blocking the flow of fuel, not to mention a bad plug wire. Everyone came running to help & had me going in short order. Truck wasn't running perfect after that, but it got me there and back.
A HUGE 'thank you' to the guys who didn't hesitate to help.
It was decided that Lonesome Lake would make a good destination. Only thing was...it wasn't lonesome!
Waiting our turn to get to Lonesome Lake parking lot
LL parking lot (seems the Jeep clubs like this area, too)
Lonesome Lake
Even with a few minor issues, it was hard not to enjoy the day. Weather was great, the company was great, and we found a decent amount of snow.
There was time to play...here's Rob car-jacking a rig with someones GF (I'm sure Rob will explain himself)
Here are a few trail shots of the beautiful day
All in all a great time! We'll get the bumper issue sorted out, along with the carb and plug wires. Can't let stuff like that slow you down!

I had a great time out there except for the threat of impounding my rig, and then overheating the rig, and then having one of the joints in the exhaust come loose (read: LOUD) and then finally getting pulled over on I-405 on the way home and getting threatened with a $404 dollar fine for the tires sticking out of the fenders! All in all a pretty good day~after all the rig is in the garage at home. Anyone got any pics of the 410 trail run?

i'll have to start going on trail runs as soon as my truck is capable. gimme 6 months and she'll be built
it'd probably make it, but between the oil leaking, clutch slipping, blowby and carb sucking air through the base it probably wouldn't be much fun

Most excellent pics Jim.
Sorry to hear about the hassle with the bumpers.
I would not think they would be so picky about that, they are stonger than the cheap factory ones.
With my old job coming back soon, I will have some dough to get my rig trail worthy, and I hope to be able to go on a good early spring run up there.
The snow should still be up there in many places.
Looks like the weather was good, and the scenery and company was top notch.

(the exception is if you have just grenaded something in your front diff and the truck doesn't want to move under it's own power...)

Simply beautiful up there.
One of my first mods Jim will be a new air up system.
I will probably go with the Power Tank again.
This of course is after all the maint. stuff that needs to be done first.

Okay, bunch of pics...
This one came out a little blurry so I circled the bird excrement for your viewing pleasure.
Pic of my truck
The two stock 4Runners that made it, and Rob's Taco.
More trucks sittin at the air-down spot.
And more trucks. This poor little girl nearly got abducted by Rob. Sorry, I don't have any pics of when she hit him with the pepper spray!

Nice day!
Stuck Ranger.
At this point I though he got going, so I headed back to my truck and missed the installation of the Ford Locker. I then proceeded to get stuck myself a little farther up. A bunch of guys came down to get me unstuck, in exchange for a ride back up the hill in the back of my runner. If anyone has pics of me stuck, please post them or PM me!

Back on the road again
Stopped to enjoy the view
Not much daylight left
Who cares about the scenery when we've got all these trucks to admire!
That's about all I got for pics, as it got dark out soon after we started heading down. All in all, a great day with a great bunch of folks!
