How to Wire a 700Watt power inverter

Can anyone tell me how and where the best place to mount a 700Watt power inverter? Also is there any concern using this with a standard alternator? I need to know what I need. Like do I need to install a disconnect switch so as to not drain my battery? Any help is appreciated.

What are you planning on running and where? Are you going to use it while driving, stopped or both. The inverter will draw some power even when its not being used. I would put some kind of disconnect in the system. Do you plan on putting in a second battery for aux power? As for the alternator find out what its output is and the draw from the truck electrical system with its greatest load. this should give you an estimate of how much excess power you have avalible for accessories running on the inverter.
Need more info. before we can really help much more.
Cheers
Nathan

I want to run a my boat battery charger while the truck is running. They make these tow and charge do-dads now that allow this. I want to hookup my 10 amp charger and run a wire (extension cord)to my boat to charge my deep cycle batteries while I drive. The charger itself draws about 2 amps. 120 volts x 2 amps = 240 watts. I want enough power so i can upgrade my charger someday. This will be used only when the trucks runs

I ran a guage 1 cable from my battery to the back of my truck and hook it up that way. You can get ground from the body. Use the same guage cable for ground. I also run my ExtremeAir air compressor that way. I only turn the invertor on when I need it.

I've used a velcro and stuck it on the side of my sub woofer box. You need to get one of those real fat ones and they don't move at all. I made a direct connection to my battery (with a monster cable- forgot what gage) and sometimes I leave it on over night or two. It doesn't drain my battery at all. I've gotten my velcro from Lowe's but you might find it at home depot.
