How steep have you gone??

We were out wheeling last weekend and there was this hill. At first I didn't think we could do it with the loose gravel but we did. We figure it was in excess of 45 degrees. Everybody figures it was 50-55 degrees.

How steep have you gone?

How steep can you go in a 2nd gen t4r until you have problems?

Matt

50-55 ? It seems to me like that would be after you roll,Lol.45 is to much for me when going up or down. It's not the angle that bothers me, it's the fact that one very small rock or gravel to loose can end it in a bad way, Mike

Luckily it was straight up. We looked at the hill from the other side (looking down) and there is no way I would have tried it. It gave me the willies looking at it. But our crazy friend decided to do it first, so i figured if he rolled I wouldn't do it. but he made it so up I went.

I will have to go back to the site and get some picktures in a couple of weeks. We didn't have the camera on that trip.

If the tires will grip and the engine will keep running (the other thing people sometimes forget) you could climb a wall. 45-50* isn't that tough. Here is the REAL secret - it's the ability analyze whether you can safely slide down or back down that you have to master. Climbing a hill is easy, failing to make it and getting back down is the pucker-maker...

So true!!
At the Badlands we had a pretty good incline, probably in the range of 45 degrees. See picture. In any case, I was afraid of overdoing it the first time up and didn't have enough momentum... I ended up with wheels spinning about 3/4 of the way up. Had to back my way down... That was indeed the "pucker-maker." My second try I gave it a lot of gas and made it up no problem. Fun times! I need to get back there sometime...

Ya speed is the answer we were doing it in 4 low, 2nd gear and around 3500-4000 rpm. Lots of power at that point.
