How to remove a/c compressor belt?
How do I remove the a/c compressor belt on my 1999 4Runner 3.4 (auto trans.)? I have the power steering pump belt off. But can't figure out how to remove the a/c belt. Does the a/c compressor bracket pivot to loosen the belt tension? Or what?
Yes I did search for this, but "database error" keeps coming up whenever I click "go". Also my Chiltons manual offered no help either.
Many thanks, Dan

No, compressor is fixed to its bracket. Get underneath and look up--the adjuster is there and operates on the small 'dummy' pully on the lower half of the belt. Loosen lock nut in middle of dummy first. I think skid plates need to be off to have a shot at this. (Mine were already off when I had to do it.)

Toylocost - Where's the gas powered cut off saw? Or "jaws of life"?
Just kidding. I got the belt off of it tonight. I saw that adjustment nut but thought it was part of the bracket I guess. Off and back on it 5 minutes tops.
Thanks guys!
