I bought my 96 in July of 2002 for 13,500 with 89K. It was a bit high but the truck was in perfect condition and was the only one I had found with a 5 speed 4x4. And the main reason I went through with it, is because they gave me over a grand more for my 95 Tahoe (that I traded in) than I paid for it in the first place.

I got mine about 6 months ago with 83k for $12,500. I think I payed a bit more than I should have but it overall seems trouble free except for the blown rear shocks after a couple of off road excursions.
I saw a '99 SR5 4WD all black w/scoop with a supercharger with only 85k on it go for $13,800 on ebay back in November.

Paid $14,500 for a 96' Limited (4x4) in exellent shape with 75,000 miles and a clean carfax bill of health. It was purchased in August 03' after months of searching and purchased through Carmax. A great way to shop and compare online. They are not the cheapest compared to the private market but they are a much safer bet and based on volume can offer much lower than dealers. Check um' out & do a national search on 4runners. http://carmax.com/

I bought my 97 SR5 5spd (wood trim, sunroof, aftermarket stereo, Manik Brushguard with Hellas, Manik tailight guards, hood and sunroof visors, window visors) for $15k back in late 2002. It had 58k miles on it then. Even though it was a tad rough for a 97 (minor cosmetic issues with interior), it was a bargain compared to the higher mileage 3rd Gens everyone else was selling in the area (start at 19k and climb quickly from there).

My 96 hilux surf is a Japanese import (126000kms or about 80000miles) with 5 new tires, got it for only 15000NZ$(7500US$), usual price is about 9-10000US$.I traded my audi at the same dealer I got it so I had a good deal

We got our 98 SR5 in October 2003 with 67k miles. It has the TRD option group ( includes the locker
), auto and new tires. It was in near mint condition and we paid $21,000 Canadian which is 15,600.00 US dollars. Around here that was a pretty good price.
