How to make a NWOR IFS truss fit
#1
Well here you go.. This was done a week aor two ago, but I just took some photos today while doing my crossmember... Stay clear of these NWOR Trusses... I can not believe they even sell this junk! Now, mind you. If the truck was lifted, I would still have the same trouble due to the IFS lift's dropping the diff with the lift..
Here is a view of what is looks like now.. (I am going to be taking the 1/4" plate off the bottom.. I don't think it is needed, and as an afterthought I am going to grind off the tack welds and remove it for a cleaner look..
Now this is what I had to do just to make it useable.. The pipe was cut and spliced into the box tubing that NWOR uses.. I am about 1/16" away from the Diff in the front even with this much of a "notch" put into it... Prior to this, it hung down over an inch below everything in the front of the truck.. (Yea, give up 1" of clearance just to make the front end stronger?? Mind you, this was pretty much so across the most vital spot.. Dead center)
Now this is a photo of how I welded it after cutting off about 2" of the top half of the bracket.. (PS, see the hole in the bottom of the stock bracket?? That is where the hole you can see in the truss used to bolt thru..)
Well, I have to clean it up a little, as this was just a quick, fix the problem and get it on there mod, and I didn't have time to make it pretty...

Thanks Dr. Z... If I had to ever to do it again, I would make my own, it would of been eaiser in the long run.. But having bent those rear brackets already, I have come to the conclusion that it is needed for any serious off road use..

Good work salvaging that crappy design of a truss Lee. If you ever want to cut it off and ship it to me I'll drive up to their showroom and throw it through the window for you.
But seriously, good work.

Well, this is the only NWOR part I have ever bought.. and I just can't see how something like that could even make it out the door
Like I said, at first I thought it was because it was made with a lift kit in mind.. BUT the lift kit drops the diff to the exact same place!!.. To tell you the truth, I really need it about 1/2" lower (the pipe that is) It is almost touching in the front!!:pat: What should of been done was to angle it to match the diff..
