How long will a bad water pump last?

I just did mine, old pump leaked all over the place and probably compromised the timing belt. It was making all kinds of noises and there were some piles of orange/rust everywhere. I also replaced the #2 pulley and the tensioner pulley. The engine is so much quieter now.

Good job! Sometimes I'll bite the bullet at the stealership since they SHOULD know the vehicle better than the ma-and-pa shop. Plus, I prefer to have genuine Toyota parts.

I know the "poor college student" thing. But I'm glad you took care of it this way then having to do it PLUS pay for towing and any other potential damage.
