How is the drive shaft balanced at the factory?
I'm trying to align the splines in the slip yoke to the factory setting, so the weights on the shaft are working as they should.
There is a lube zerk on the rear u-joint and zerks on the front u-joint (talking about rear drive shaft here).
Should the zerks all be on one side? That is all u-joints zerks be accessible from a single shaft position. And since the u-joint should be in phase on the rear driveshaft, there are only 2 possible positions for the slip yoke. Where zerks all align, and where they are on opposite sides.
So which one is the factory setup?

Unless you changed the weighs it should be fine. I never understood having to install it the same way as you took it off. It's the same as saying you have to put your wheels back in the exact studs they came off.

That is a good read. Though that is to align the slip yoke part, which I'm guessing what you were asking.
What I was always told is to put the driveshaft in just how it came out, as in the flanges on the transfer case and axle side have to match.

Mine came from the factory, and still has, all the zerks on the same side. I am the original owner and I can guarantee that D/S has never been dismounted. I have done all the work on my truck except for one out-of-town clutch job and some warranty stuff early on.
