I know many people view teh highlander as aminivan and what not. But im just here to tell you all about my experiance tonight. It snowed about 10 inches here...and nobody has plowed yet. I got in my dads highlander, and went right down the driveway, and whereever i wanted to go! No problem getting through anything. Then i got on a main road that was plowed...and decided to see what she had. So i drove through some 3-4 foot tall snowdrifts...and i made it without a problem. Over all this truck is great in the snow! Stops well,steers well. The only complaint i have is that when you turn and a tire slips or spins a little bit... the truck beeps at you haha...its kind of annoying, but i guess saftey first. I must say, th truck did AWSOME!

Most of you might not care haha...but for those with highlanders...ROCK ON!

I've driven my AWD Eclipse in over 10 inches of snow and it did ok plus there's a few subarus that can accomplish it too but anything more clearance becomes an issue and I would hope a Highlander can go through that much snow with it's clearance but it doesn't surprise me.

 

It's not that we have anything against the Highlander, well, except the Unibody construction on the camry platform, and ok it has a center differential that can't be locked, oh, and it doesn't have a transfer case and 4lo, and um, it kinda looks wussy, and well, um, it looks like it's for some family guy who was ˟˟˟˟˟ whipped by his wife to buy the thing when he really wanted a 4runner, but yeah, yeah, it's great and stuff.
Ok, Ok, Ok, but it does have one thing going for it - It's a Toyota!

 

haah i know..its not my car...its bought by the dad for the mom. Anyway...it handels well in the snow.

 

yea, its a very capable vehicle. my dad has a 99 rx which is basically the same exact vehicle (minus VSC.. VSC came to rx's in either 00 or 01) and its very capable on snowy roads. my runner does MUCH better at climbing our steep driveway and at plowing over drifts, but its good enough.

we're in the midst of a 2 to 3 foot snowfall right now so im psyched to head out there!

 

POST PICS PLEASE...im watching the weather channel all the time trying to see whos driving well and whos getting stuck in that blizzard yall are getting...lee id love to see some pics, or anyone else with snow pics...NC SUCKS FOR SNOW...ha i saw jeep and an xterra stuck in the snow (in the background of weather channel) and i laughed a lot

3-4 foot deep snow drifts ehh? By inertia, maybe.
Realistically, from what I've seen AWD cars (even brand new Audis with the best systems out there) can barely make it through a few inches of packed slush in a parking lot. My truck can barely move in anything deeper than a foot on 32" full tread Revos. In 2WD it's useless pretty much on anything without asphalt visible. That's the reality boys!

 

My Eclipse was fine going through up to 10" of snow but anything much more than I was just plowing snow onto the hood. The car spent 4 winters up in the mountains at 8000ft and never got stuck but I also knew the limits.
