Here we go again! ('80 Toy pickup)

I was closing a loan for a guy today and we got to talking about Toyotat trucks. He said he has a '80 Toy 4WD with a blown transmission. The "stupid" juices in my head start flowing like melted butter and I ask "are you selling it?" :pat:

I tell him I have most of the running gear from my '83 still (less the front axle) and could probably swap in the transmission fairly easily. Or better, send the tranny to Marlin to have it rebuilt and regeared. From the sounds of it, the '80 would be a far better starting point than my '83 (read: NO RUST!!!). He also said he had a high clearance flatbed with roll bar, heavy duty front bumper, and no holes in the floor boards.

Oh, yeah! And he lives 1038 miles closer than the guy I bought the '83 from.

I'm going to go check it out next Tuesday. I still want a trail rig.

Someone talk some sense into me.

I would, but I'd rather hear how this turns out. Take a lot of pics OK? Do the hammer thru the frame trick again too!

'80 is a better base to start with than my '79. it doesn't have the awful fuel pump in the tank from the factory which instantly makes it a little less painful to work on.
