Help: Reinstalling Center Console Interior Trim

Can anyone explain how to get this piece back in it's proper spot. I got it out but cannot, for the life of me, get it back in. Seems like the center console has to be unbolted somehow.

Lift up the cupholder section and you'll see that your part in question will just snap into place.

That's the problem, I can't lift up the cupholder part. I've pulled fairly hard but it won't lift up. Do I need to pull VERY hard?

Undo the screw that you see in the picture and the screw on the other side of the console. Then you can lift the console slightly. If that fails, you might have to hit it with your purse.

Come on, it's not rocket science.

Obviously it’s not rocket science and, unlike some people, I’d rather not get rammy and break ˟˟˟˟. I’ve had those two screws out that you mentioned and the black part of the center console still didn’t move at all. I’ve taken a lot of interior trim apart of several vehicles including this truck.

I’ve never had such a problem getting a piece of trim back in. I thought there was perhaps a hidden clip somewhere that someone could tell me where it was and how to pull on it so that I don’t break ˟˟˟˟. Thanks for your kind words and advice.

You have to open the center arm rest to remove the cupholder piece. Also, engage the parking brake. Then pull the black plastic piece straight up. It is held in place with 4 tension plugs, like the rest of the dash, no screws.
