My brother is interested in a 4runner, but he and i both have no knowledge of 4runners.

is 1995 a bad year? what are the things to look at when purchasing it? Has leather and 4wd, other than that i am not sure.

any help is appreciated

price is in the 6k area and it has 85k on the clock.

$6k is very decent for those miles/equipment. What kind of shape is it in?
Take the VIN number and see if the head gasket has been replaced, thats a BIGGIE on the 3.0. Also, does the seller have any records? Check all of the fluids..

Where are you located? You might be able to have somebody help you check it ou.

The 95s aren't eligable for the HG recall. Supposedly it was fixed in that year. Not sure I believe it.

Weird, I'd check anyways. Check the oil/coolant for any contamination.

Why were some of the 96's recalled? Crazy gasket makers!

The 96's are a different type or location of HG leak. I believe those are external leaks, whereas the 2nd gens are internal. The 3.4L recall wasn't nearly as widespread as teh 3.0.

Ya the 95's already had both head gasket updates, and I rarely have seen many blow.

Id say the 95 is the best of its generation. I dont like purchasing vehicles that had the engines taken apart by anyone other than myself. So assuming you get a 95 without having any headgasket problems, you would have one of the best. Hopefully they took care of it.

I can run the VIN for you if you like, and check to see what warranty repairs had been done to it.

I have a 95 Runner w/ 162K miles and still going and going and going. The 3.0 engine is reliable but underpowered if hauling/towing. W/ 85K miles I assume the timing belt is original. That should be changed soon. If the body / interior is clean, sounds like a fair deal. If you have a few extra bucks, install Downey rear coils to get rid of any rear end sag. Great truck, Love my 95Runner.
