I finally got my new tires!!! BFG all terrain TA/Ko's!!! they are 265/75R16 's and are so sweet, my only complaint is that they are rubbing slightly, when I am making slow turns. Anyone got any quick and easy fixes for me?? I might just end up taking my running boards off, and eventually swap them for nerfs, but for now, any quick ideas would be MUCH appreciated!

oh yeah, I decided to go with the black on the outside, I think it looks more rugged.

 

Weird, are you sure it's not just the extra beefy shoulders that are making the sound against the pavement when you're doing the slow turns?

How about a 2" lift to get rid of the rubbing? j/k I have 265/75R16 BFG's & there isn't any rubbing on mine at all...? Other than removing the boards, I have nothing good for you. Just wanted to say that I found it odd.

It sounds like the plastic being pulled back, and smacking back down on itself. ?? I don't know if that explains it well, but I heard it on both sides... once on the left, when turning left, and then on the right side, when turning right... hmmm

I had the same thing. I've got a 96 Ltd.
Pulling the running boards will help a little. You'll still rub when cranking the wheel hard either direction and taking a curb (ie. driveway, parking lot), or 4 wheeling and taking a rock at an angle.
I solved my rubbing issue completely by lifting it. OME MDs in front, OME HDs in rear, cornfed spacers front, Pro Comp shocks front and Ranchos rear. I'm very pleased with the results.

 

Yeah, i have just recently noticed the problem with mine. I never noticed it on my first set of KOs but on my new ones, when i go into a driveway w/ the wheel turned just right i hear it rub. Not bad but its kind of anoying.

 

Never noticed before hrmm... But I'm going wheeling this Friday so I'll see if there's any annoying rubbing. If that's the case, I must get lifted next year!

 

Just crank your torsion bars up a little...oh, you say you have springs. Hehe - One "point" for the us 2nd Gen owners (pretty much our only point)

 

Thats strange that you encounter rubbing with 265's. I ran 265's on my totally stock rig and had no rubbing issues at all. Well let me take that back. Only under major articulation is when they would rub and then it wasn't bad at all. You can also pound the inner fender seam with a small sledge.

 

I think it's weird that they are rubbing too! I made a few posts here before I got them to make sure they would fit, and even the guys at the place where I got them said they would fit no problem, since the 265/75 's are only like .4 inches taller (or something like that ) But when looking at my rig now, they look quite a bit bigger than my 265/70's I will try to post some pics asap, but my roll (no digicam yet :pat: ) has 3 pics left!

does anyone know If I run manik, or smittybuilt sidesteps if they will still rub? or be close??

From what I've read here, to stop the rubbing completely you will need to raise it. Sounds to me like you're rubbing the inner fender wells.
