HELP?? Keyless driving??

So the other day i figured out i can pull my keys out while my 4runner is in park adn I can drive around without my keys in the ignition. WHen i pull the key out it doesnt' hesitate at all it just slides right out, i hardly have to pull. Has anyone else had this happen to their ride?? And is it that big of a problem??

if something is messed up with the interlock system,

yeah it can be a problem when your steering wheel suddenly locks in traffic
though this scenario is practically impossible...[but so is taking the key out]

better to get everything checked out

I remember an old nissan I had in high school used to have that problem.

I loved it though, cause when the parents got mad and took the keys....well, I got in more trouble

Don't think it's the Interlock thats bad, as my old 98 Dodge did the same thing. He means that when he's driving, or it's on, you can pull the keys out and in. The tumblers are worn out I bet. Don't believe the Interlock will work without the ignition in the off position.

Thanks everyone for your input!...I went out today and put my spare key in and tried to pull it out and nothing happened it stayed put so i compared the two and you can tell that the key that was coming out is worn down so Problem solved! Thanks again for the help and input from all!

My 89 4Runner does that too. I like it cuz I can start my truck and pull it out of the garage, pull the key out and go move my car in. I pull the key out when I'm out on the trails, that way the keys aren't bouncing all over the place.
