I just put a Super 40 on my 81 and it has a DEAFINING drone between 2500-3500 rpm with a medium load. Its a lot quieter than the glasspack but atleast it didnt have that drone. One thing important to note is that my exaust doesnt exit at the back of the truck, instead it exits a short down turn pipe attached to the muffler under the truck. Im sure that makes a significant difference. Do you have a V6 or an I4?

my 02' 3.4L had a flowmaster 40 series and it was way too loud for me. it didnt sound like a fart can on a honda but the drone between 2000 and 2500 rpm was very annoying. ive heard the 50 series flowmaster is a better idea for an SUV but i definitely wouldnt recommend the 40 series.

flowmasters 50 series delta flow. I have the same engine as you and it isn't loud and annoying but it has a nice and fairly deep tone.
