Heater core problem
I just removed my heater core today to replace it and the one I bought off of eBay for $65.00 is noticably smaller and the extension pipes do not fit. I called the dealer and they want $350 for one. I checked autozone.com and it says that a heater core is only $39.99. Is this correct? Does anyone know a good source for heater cores so I do not have to spend $350? This is for a 1987 4x4.

I checked the local auto parts stores today and they seem to have the same core that I bought on eBay. Has anyone ever installed one of these cheap replacement cores before? Do they work ok or is the factory one way better?

Are you certain the fittings are too small or are the hoses swollen. They're pretty old unless you already changed them. My bet would be on the hoses. Replace those while your at it.

A lot of times when you buy aftermarket, there is a code (from the manufacture) attached to the part number, loosely translated it means "some modification or adapting required". This even apears on a lot of factory parts too!! :$
Good luck!
