heat shield buzzing fix

I have a VERY annoying buzz in the 2500~ RPM range that I have narrowed to be the crossover pipe heat shield. I have banged on it a little, in a few different places and it changes the pitch or tone or even the RPM when the sound accurs, but I cannot make it go away.

This is a very noticable, loud noise its making. I need to remove that heat shield. I can wrap it in header wrap If I need to... but I need advise on how to remove this heat shield. It looks like it covers the crossover completely, so Im not sure if it can be done.

Any advise is appreciated.

ps. Im SURE that this is the source of the vibration/buzzing. (100%)

Well, it might not be the best solution but in the past I have used either a big hose clamp or some heat wrap to quiet those down. Sometimes, it is just a matter of making sure that however they are attached is functional and secure. If they are welded on, then make sure that none of the welds are busted, if they are clamped on make sure the clamps are not broken or loose.

I agree with the previous message, just go to the local hardware store and pick up some hose clamps. They're cheap and would be a quick and simple fix. I had to remedy a problem like this on my sisters Mitsubishi Eclipse, it was a heat shield problem and I used one of these about 4 years ago now and still seems to be working great.

Actually I have tried to get a large hose clamp around one part of it, and could not manage. Its very tight in there! But, the header wrap around the shield might due, if I can get it wrapped around!!

I think that might help the buzzing, if its wrapped relatively tightly.

Thanks for the replys!
