Headlights
My 96runners headlights Suck! there is barely a differance between the daylight running lights and the actual headlights. Today I was playing with the wires on the drivers side and disscoverd that while wiggleing the wire on the drivers light,it would go out and the passenger side would go brighter but I could not get it to stay bright with both lights on. Is this just a freak problem or are there others out there that are experiancing the same thing.

with one light on, thats half of the resistance, which means the one light will be brighter because of more current. I found a huge light difference when I installed a new wiring harness for the headlights. It brought my headlights from running at 10Vdc to running at the full 13.8Vdc. My next step is to buy some piaa superwhites.

When you say replaced the harness, from which point are you talking about, the entire harness or just where it come from the main harness. I actually had to put new plugs on mine a while back when I first got the truck, I am going to check the voltage at the light and see what I get. Thanks for the info.

Factory wiring is marginal at best and 10+ years down the road, it is usually pretty bad. Some info on testing and upgrading the wiring is available on the web page below:
