Headlight lens - Busted - Options?

Took a rock through my front headlight this weekend. Reflecter & bulb assembly are fine (thanks goodness cause I am running silverstars) but have a big hole in the lens. Dealer says only option is the replcae the whole assembly for $153. Seems like a lot for just a cracked lens. Other dealership says the same thing.

So, bottom line is anybody know where to get this cheaper?

Anybody ever done the swap out - does the grill have to come off to do the swap? Looks like it does to me?

I wonder if my TJM will make it harder to get the grill off?

thx,

m

Cover hole

I'd recommend temporarily covering the hole until you decide what to do, perhaps with some clear packaging tape, just so you don't ruin the bulb.

I would think you would have to take off the grill to change a headlight or take out the corner light, but I don't know, never had to replace one. Having a TJM on there will definitely make your work space a bit more limited. Let us know what you have to end up doing!

Good luck!

grill must come off to replace the headlight assembly.
if i were you i'd get a used assembly unless you replace it with the newer style ones which are totally clear..i'm assuming yours are the fogged out type..i'm sure someone on here has the fogged out ones since they've upgraded to the 01 headlights. good luck

lil late

Sorry, I just auctioned a pair yesterday on E bay (80.00/2). Keep an eye out there or maybe try TAP. I think they sell them for $85 a pop per assembly. My dealer told me that the lense was replaceable. He may have meant the lamp but I'm pretty sure you dont need the whole assembly.
