Question Which header is best (tacoma 2.7)

Just got my tacoma yestarday and im ordering my exhaust asap. Im gonna get a dynomax superturbo muffler, and a dynomax highflow cat like i had on my 4runner. But im trying to decide which header to get. the nwor one looks like the best quality one, but its way to pricey. Im trying to decide between the pacesetter one(on ebay for like 150) or downey. Do any other companies make them for the 2.7? Anyways those with headers what do you think about yours. do they improve sound and performance? Im excited to start building up my tacoma, this is my first steps. Woo Woo. Oh and please dont flame for asking about headers ive searched lots and nobody really talks about sound or the pacesetter brand on yotatech.

From what I have observed the general consensus seems to be LC Engineering. If you go for a different option let us all know what your experience is...

Anything other than ceramic is not worth it. Get ceramic, don't get cheap. Pacesetter is cheap, check the gauge of the material, it is thin. You will heat soak your engine bay and over time a thin header will develop rust spots and, given the right amount of time, may develop holes. My vote is for anything ceramic that is time tested and proven. My experience with Downey is that their service sucks, but that's it.

Have you looked into LC Engineering?

Depends on the cat back exhaust system really. Headers do very little to the sound; if anything, they make things quiter.

LCE and NWOR both offer top quality (as far as what's out there) headers for the 3RZ.

The 4-1 LCE design seems to deliver the power in the upper RPM's as does the Downey. The Tri-Y design of the NWOR seems to deliver more low end. I've never ran either of em but have read about em for years and that's pretty much the concensus. According to Downey, they research and relocate the O2 sensor so it's most likely to see the same mixtures as it was in the stock system. As far as I can tell on the LCE and NWOR, they just put the O2 sensor where it fits/was. How much that means or matters, I really have no idea. I haven't heard of any sesnsor foul ups or bad readings from any of em.

When first released LCE had some fitment problems but got that all worked out. Everyone that I've read about that has the NWOR has nothing but good things to say about em. I've heard both good and bad about Downey.
Any header you get can be ceramic coated locally (unless you live in BFE) so buying it like that isn't that big of deal but it's usually cheaper if it's offered than getting it done after the fact.

EDIT...BTW: Now you need to change your Avatar.

Kevin: I think I asked you a while back in another thread what you needed to get for your header and hi-flow cat.

I see your still trying to sell the header. You still got the cat? How much for both? Come with gaskets? or will I havta get some local? I really only need the cat but would like a header too.

just some FYI...
the tacomas dont need the hi-flo cat because the cat on the tacos has a flange on either end whereas the runners dont.

I wish there was. 3.4 users dominate us.

This is not a dyno sheet but this is the only review i know about lc headers.
