Hard Braking

I love brakes and am fascinated with them, and I do great maintinence on mine, bleeding, and dot 4 fluid and so fourth....

BUT I get a feeling of vibration when i engauge in braking somethimes not all the time. I have the 13" discs and love the feel of them but I feel something different now, is the Tires the problem? THE rotars are not worped or did I boil out my fluid or neither is my alignment out of line!

I take hard turns and brake at over 90+mph on backroads and non established roads and I get this touch of weridness, anyone had this feeling? or is just fear of multiple 100mph passes on backroads finally sinking into my brain?

just a thought!

Um, I was going to post something but decided that any discussion of this topic would be a tacit approval of this type of dangerous driving. If someone else wants to chime in...

You had to know that you were going to get flamed for posting about unsafe driving practices...

You may be just over-heating the brakes just a little. It may not be enough to permanently warp the rotors. Just enough that you feel it when you hit the skids real hard. Just a guess...

Try not to hit any trees or fuzzy woodland creatures on you mach 1 backroad escapades.

When my rotors warped, I first noticed it only at really high speeds, like 85mph. At that point it wasn't noticable unless I was braking hard to slow for an exit.

Are you SURE they are not warped? Driving fast in a heavy SUV and then braking hard is almost always going to cause the rotors to warp. Especially if it is an automatic. The front brakes do about 90% of the work, and they just are not built strong enough to handle race-like driving.

I have heard horror stories about LandCruisers warping rotors every 10k miles. Of course they were driven hard, but it just goes to show you...

to other yota owners, the next few images are going to be graphic, intense, and quite painful... We all love our toys but this is what speed will do...

PS - no thats not my yota, If I could afford 20's I'd have gotten something other than Arelli Blingblings...

Do they make super swampers that will wrap around a set of 18s or 20s?

Here's an idea... I imagine you have ABS on your truck... the vibration could be the ABS kicking in so your not breaking out of contol at 90+ on backroads....
