H4 HID Conversion now no HI beam indicator??
I just installed a H4 dual beam HID conversion kit on my 1996 Tacoma. No my HI heam indicator light on the dash doesn't work. Is that normal? I only have the drivers side hooked up now because the kit had 1 bad ballast. So one side is hooked up. I don't see that being the problem since they are separate, but I may be wrong? Could that be it? Thanks for any help.

That is normal.
A lot of guys over on TTORA have the same thing happen with HIDs.
Most kits have the 35 watt ballasts. But the light comes on normally when it senses a bigger change in voltage. I am not quite sure how th plug and play kits do the high beams but I am pretty sure it is a mechanical movement of a shield or something like that.
I have a projector retrofit and a shield flips to go from lows to highs. there is no actual change in voltage.
You might want to consider a projector retrofit because those kits are notorious for blinding other drivers around you.

I have an H4 Bi-Xenon kit as well and the way the plug and play wiring is for the kit, it only allows one of the stock connections to be plugged in. With this the computer thinks that one of the sides isn't connected and wont show when your high beams is on. Pretty common in some kits. Mine is that way and I lost the high beam indicator which I don't care cus I don't run my lights during the day most the time and I can definitely tell when the highs are on at night so I don't need an indicator. Here you go! It may have something to do with the amp between the to ballast for the HI/LOW. There should be a total of 3 boxes. 2 are the light ballast the 3rd is the amp box is what they call it. Anyways with the other light not hooked up then it probably wont work or if you dont have the 3rd box it probably wont work. Have to down load this link and it is on a 97 4runner.

One fix for high beam indicator not working after HID conversion
I found this thread looking for info on how to get my high beam indicator to work after installing a Kensun HID kit to my 1999 Mazda Miata. This installation leaves one headlight connector unused. I thought I'd post what seems to be working for me, similar to what some others have posted.
I used a 40 Ohm 100 W power resistor (about $4) to connect two of the headlight connector pins as shown in this album

The resistor remains cool after 10 minutes. I haven't tried it for longer yet. With a 100 W 4 Ohm resistor, the resistor gets too hot to the touch in just a few minutes.
