If i feel resistance should I keep going....and that tensioner is a pain in the ass to get off...can i just lower it to a few threads on the bolt and then when the belt is on just tighten it back up or do i have to remove it? to bad that snap on tool is so damn expensive
ok I found it easier to work from the left cam, right cam to the crank! then screw in the tensioner!!
Yes you can back off of the tensioner to remove all possible pressure leaving a couple threads in to keep it there...
After you go through the motions of getting it all lined up turn the crank bolt without the plugs in clockwise 2-4 complete turns back to TDC and recheck all marks are properly lined up before reassembling the front of the engine!!!

I will stress not to worry it is a non-interference motor

If it has a timing belt in a toyota it is non-interference and if it is a timing chain it is interference!!! so if you do not know what that means interference means that the valves will make contact with the piston and non means it will not!!!

just be sure to double and or triple check the timing marks before reassembling so you do not have to take it back apart and redo it!!!
