grinding noise when suspension is extended

k, not fully extended, but... when its moving in that direction..

just finished replacing both lower balljoints, driver's side cv axle, and tightening the passenger wheel bearing (will be installing disconnects as soon as soon as they get here). so right now my swaybar is loose, i took it for an agressive spin around the block and up the lane (fully of dips and holes), and i get what seems to be a grinding noise when the truck goes over these bumps. note that the driver side axle was replaced simply cause it was easier to throw in my old (still good) axle then it was to replace the boot on the new one, now i can repair it at my leisure.

any guesses as to what could be causing this noise? having the wheel straight or slightly turned doesnt change anything.

You could try that, its a start anyway. Can you tell where abouts it is coming from?

Suspension problems can be a bear. Just crawl under there and start wiggling and feeling around. See if somethings loose, or broken.

well, the grinding is from the drivers front wheel, im pretty sure.. the rest, i dont know.. yea, i believe thats it for broken stuff in my suspension.. got toyota to look it over, they gave me the list (was the quickets way to be sure) had alot of shadytree mechanics tell me one thing, and it wasnt that.. so i went to the source.

gonna crawl back under tomorrow and see what i can spot..

well, jacked it up, wiggled the wheel, no play.. on either one, wiggled everything under there i could think of.. nothing, had someone jump up and down on the bumper while i listened.. nothing. removed the loose swaybar, nothing.. yet when i take it for a spin, i can hear something grinding or clunking, fromt time to time.

im about ready to give up and bring it back to toyota for another $18 inspection
