Grinding from 5th to 4th ONLY

Grinding from 5th to 4th ONLY
I have the 2.7L, and my problem seems to be exactly that. It will shift perfectly from 3rd to 4th, but if you put it in 5th, at any speed, and downshift to 4th, it grinds a little bit before engaging the gear. Yes, I am mashing the clutch down to the floor, and there is nothing behind the pedal arm to keep the pedal from fully burying.
Anyone have any idea at all?

I suggest he fixes the problem first, then switches gear oil.

I second changing out the bushings... I had a bushing go out on my 82's stick, and it did something very similar to what you're describing. Fixed the bushing, fixed the problem...

sweet... i guess i should invest $10 in the marlin heavy duty ones and never worry about it again. if something breaks, you never replace, you always UPGRADE. an old indian taught me that.

i ordered the one for all other 4wd applications, because if i read right, i have the w59 tranny. When the part comes in, my problem will cease.
Thanks all
