Exclamation Grease from CV joints after lift adjustment?

I have a '98 Tacoma 4WD with a 4" fabtech suspension lift and a 2" body lift. Resently, I added some 33" tires and cranked up the front coil over about and 1 1/2" so as to accommodate the new tires. Yesterday, I noticed that there was a bunch of grease coming from somewhere in the vicinty of the CV boot area on both sides. It's all pretty fresh grease and I haven't taken the truck out on the trail lately so there is no dirt in there. Could the new tires and suspension adjustment cause a tear in the CV itself and cause the grease to leak out? What should I do to fix this problem that has just occured before it gets any worse? Thanks for the help.

Does the fabtech come with drop brackets?

some times when you crank to coil over to high it will cause thr boot fins to rub together and create heat witch will cause the boot to fail.

Does this mean that the CV joint is going to need replacement? BTW, your catfish is awsome!

no the diff drop is not difficult. IF you have a drop bracket for the front, you might not need it. Do you have a pic of your front set up?

If you dont have a bracket, you definately need to order a diff drop.

a lot of times, it will just leak out from the angle.

visually inspect it for rips/tears. if there are none, do the drop and watch it for more leakage.

Sorry I don't have any photos of the frony end. Looks like I have a good starting point to go from. If I don't have the brackets, does to kits come with them?

not usually.

Ive seen fabtec kits that have a drop bracket for the cv's. I guess you have something different.

I have the same issue with fresh Grease leaking out from the CV boots!! my boots are not torn or ripped!! the grease seems to be coming out from between the diff and the inner section of the boots!! Like where the boot is clamped to the half shaft!!

Mine have started to do the same thing and my lift is very moderate to say the least. It really isn't a big deal, just cut both clamps, pull back the boots, refill with CV grease (it's a specific grease for CVs, don't just use wheel bearing grease), put on the new clamps and crimp them.

Im confused. There is no 4" Fabtech lift. They make coilovers which get 3" max, and a dropbraket lift with 6". You probably have the 3" coilovers since you wouldnt need to jack up the front anymore to clear 33's with the 6".

So, yeah you do need a diff drop, or just crank down your coilovers a little bit. Your CV boots cannot accompany the extra angle.
