Well if I keep it heres my list of fixes I have to do.
2 cv's
all ball joints
tie rod ends
steering box
a/c compressor going out as we speak
fan shroud
heater vent covers
pass side visor
headliner coming down
front fender
front valance
wiper resorvoir motors
possible rear main leaking (fixed valve pan gaskets)
power antenna (was converting to manual)
Thats all I can think of for now...I'm trying to get these things done as we speak.

But your chances of scoring a rig that will last you a while are much higher.

I bought a one-owner 97 supercharged 4Runner with 197K miles for $6K a month or so ago. The owner had all the records and was a stand up guy. Otherwise I would have never bought it. So they do exist for $7K or so, but they are going to have high mileage. It was a 5-speed SR5 4WD by the way.
The car fax will tell me if it has ever been wrecked before or major mechanical work. I can ask for original maintenance records. I do check them over thoroughly...I will jack it up and wiggle everything loose if I have to! I won't get anything over 150,000 though. I bought this runner at 200,000 and have been replacing stuff going out for a while now. But the motor sounds fine...thats why I have kept it.

Take it if you think it's a good deal.

I get an offer about once or twice a month for the Runner.
I don't really want to sell it, so I say "$15,000 (CDN) and it's yours."

It's a bit high of a price, but if someone wants it bad enough they will pay. Would be a nice down payment on a 3rd gen

lol...i hear ya. the guy offered $7,000 and thats what I'm standing at firm...even though I got along way to go on it but I've grown on it. Would like to upgrade but I am content where I am right now. So if he goes down...I step back another foot!
