The week or two before the semester are always the most boring so i went to this local trail with my shovel and fine tuned some obstacles. got one of these hills to about 70?, running through it made me nervous first time around. anyways, enjoy

I don't want to start a new thread over this so i'll just ask on here:

When i was jumping my friend off i was fooling around with my frame in the rear wheel well when i noticed something. What I thought was a tarnished and irreparable frame (cosmetically) was actually a thick layer of grime, debris, etc caked on there. i grabbed a flathead and i'll be damned if it didn't flake right off, leaving my like-new finish underneath! i was so happy, but i don't want to do the whole thing like this for obvious reasons. anyways, my question is are there any abrasive solutions that will accomplish the same thing as scraping the crap off? My truck will look 10 years newer (in my eyes, at least) if i can get all this crap off. thanks

 

You could remove it... but IMHO alot of that gunk is ALSO the frame undercoating that Toyota put on to keep RUST at bay.

Just use a standard hose and elbow grease but no soaps or detergents..

Or use Purple stuff and a brush to repaint the frame

 

Look for a company that does Bead blasting in your area and get a quote for them to blast it for you. I must say that I agree with ewong about the undercoating. I would just clean it well and paint it.
I clean and paint my frame once a year. Usually just before fall and my frame and wheel wheels look like new and it's an 01 Tacoma that goes through West Virginia salt, mud and slag all winter long every winter.Mike
