I couldn't see the picture, but it sounds like a good deal to me. When I bought my '91 around this time last year, I paid $8500 for it, and it had something like 140k miles. So i'd say that's it's a good deal, especially if nothing is seriously wrong with it. I'd go for it for $12,500 in my opinion that sounds like one hell of a deal.

Arrow Good Deal?

Seems like a good deal. You should check a few things first. Write down the VIN #, get on line and see if has been in any accidents.
Of course, slide underneath and check out if it has been offroaded much. Toyotas hold up pretty well, but still.
You also might want to hold out for something that has some of the mods that you are going to put on it anyway. Just a lift is going to cost you quite a bit.
Are you going to use it offroading, or is it just to look pretty?
Depending on how rich you are you might want to go for a 1st generation 4Runner-- for the solid axle...Because I promise you you will get to that point in modifications--and conversions aint cheap!!
Good Luck!

Hi Dman:

Try http://www.edmunds.com/
they are a couple thou cheaper than dealer prices. But I claimed stupidity,
it worked for me. Also http://www.kbb.com/ I used both and got a good price on new.

I would say that is a good price. What I do, is pick the truck up for a test drive and take it to the mechanic. Let him look over it and see what they think. It sounds to me that if it is in good condition, the price it right! I would go for it. Toyota is a very good line of vehicles and the 4Runner is like the flagship (so to speak). You will not go wrong with it. It is going to be very reliable and give you no problems. But take it to the mechanic and see what they say first. :fireman:

Vehicle History

You might want to try Carfax.com to check out the vehicle's history. Major accidents or flood damage will show up. You'll need the VIN from the Runner...

I recently bought a 97 SRF V6 5SP All power 4Runner with 58k miles. In Northern Virginia, most models like that run $18k+ (saw several for 20K+). I paid 15k out the door (tax, tag, title) because the tires were bald and it had a broken window (they fixed the window for me as a condition of the sale). Dunno what they run in Cali, but I'd jump on one for that price. BTW, do the full check (get underneath as well) AND check with Carfax. It's worth it. It kept me from looking at a few cars with crash histories, odometer rollbacks, and salvage titles.

Post Carfax

If you want a carfax, you gotta pay, like 20 bucks or something. The info might be useful or useless...It's up to you whether you want to pay for a carfax.
Hey, if your going to have a mechanic check it out anyway, screw it... If not do it.

Maybe the salesman would be willing to pay for it if you tell him "If it's clean, I'll buy it." Hey, it's worth a try.

Good Luck!
