getting rid of the limited look?

I am in the market for a 4runner and I have come across a 98 limited. its a nice truck that some lady owned and its been sitting up there for a while I think I could get it for 9 or less and it has right at 100,xxx miles on it. I would prefer to find an 5spd but I think I could live with the auto. it even has the dif lock and thats a big plus. The only thing I am not thrilled with is the nasty extra plastic they stuck on the bottoms of the body. is that going to leave mount holes if I take it off and is it sealed pretty good from the factory or will dirt getting inside most likely have destroyed the paint?

What option do I have for getting rid of the gold trim?

Yes there will be holes if you take off the plastic. I'd love to do the same thing myself if it weren't for those damn holes.

I have a 97 Limited 4runner, The gold trim?? Meaning the badges?? you could just remove them, or as deathrunner said paint them,

~Remove the runner boards
~Paint over the woodgrain trim if it has
~Plastic Cladding helps alot, Protects the bottoms of the doors
~E-locker is a great option to have
~Only draw back is getting used to drive'n an Auto

You can see in this pic the rock rashes on both doors, IMO better then sheet metal

Isn't that like getting used to breathing?

P.S. Beautiful truck. TJM isn't even in the same ballpark as your ARB.

I also love the look of limited trim but only with 33" tires really. When you look at a stock limited from the front or back the tires just look tiny for some reason.

But with my limited, I'm dealing with it until I get the 33"'s because the cladding and bigger flares will really help with kicking up rocks, and they just look pretty good with bigger tires.

I like Andy's old rig (which I guess belongs to another lucky forum member now) with the painted flares. I also like those on that '97 but on my truck, I have the sunfire red with the silver looking flares. I think they are too bright. I mean I don't dislike them but I think it'd be cooler if they were either painted to match the body or completely gone.

Thats the same color as the one I am looking at. It does look much nicer with out the running boards so I guess I can live with it. I still don't know about the auto tranny though.

I think I prefer the black plastic look but the dark grey paint is the next best thing in my mind.

Nasty plastic? The limited flares and cladding are a thing of beauty.

I'm positive you could sell them to someone else.
