I have 3" of lift in the front and I have a slight rake with the land cruiser coils.

I think what people are trying to tell you about the adjustable height struts is: It is better to lift with coils than to lift by preloading your springs.

Here is what mine looks like https://www.yotatech.com/album.php?a...pictureid=3889

how many miles does your runner have. it may be better to just get new coils also. i have a 99 and ordered the 882/891's and it gave me 2.5 in of lift over stock

I'm thinking about doing the same setup ('99 coils with Bilstein 5100 jacked to 2.5") but with 2.5" OME springs in the rear. IMO this setup would sit more level than with LC coils in the rear.
My question.... What the hell is up with people saying the 5100 shock sucks on a 4runner????????????????????????

either setup in the rear will require longer shocks because the stock ones will be too short fyi

I have never used them, or known anyone that has run them (on a 4Runner). With all the different suspension combinations that have been tried for the 4Runners, this has not been on the list, maybe for a reason...

apparently the they are valved wrong for teh 4runner steve at SS has his special ordered from bilstein with a 5 valve system as opposed to the 3 valved
ones you can buy off the shelf.

quotes from another site

I recently saw this comment over on yotatech from Steve at SS regarding a for sale add for some bilstein 5100s: "these shocks only work with stock Tacoma springs on a Tacoma. On a 4Runner they are like a rubber band, the valving is way off." That is exactly how the front of my 4runner behaves--rubber band."

Hello Ben Ferguson-

Sometimes what you read is actually true. The shocks are made specifically for my company by Bilstein. This was a very expensive endeavor, but one I felt was the only way to build the best suspension for the vehicle.

The off the shelf Tacoma 5100 series shocks are an absolute and complete disaster on a 3rd gen 4Runner. They are valved entirely wrong for the vehicle. In addition to the shocks we also had several custom poly pieces made to perfectly mount the coils to the shocks.

Also we are a ToyTec dealer as well. I can sell you the entire line of products they offer as well.

Hope to see you out in Pritchett Canyon with your rig.
