gear shift wont move out of park !

gear shift wont move out of park !
99 t4r limited, auto, 138k, got in this morn and pushed the brake in, and grabbed the gear shift lever to put it in drive and the gear shift wont move out of park. seems to me that the button that u push wont even push in, is this a major prob or an easy fix? thanks guys
