Gasket material or Silicone RTV for thermostat housing?
Ok, I have a quick question as I will be replacing my thermostat in a few hours. Unfortunately, I don't have time to go to the Toyota stealer for an OEM gasket (I'm assuming there's a gasket?), so I need to know what the best option will be: Silicone RTV (I was thinking Permatex Ultra Copper) or that gasket material you buy that you cut your own gasket out of (some kind of rubber, reinforced maybe)?
What does the OEM gasket seem to be made out of?
Just looking for a good seal so I don't have to worry about it.

Don't know if there's a gasket there or not, never replaced mine. But if you're going to use RTV, use the Permtx BLACK -- It's their best. The copper is for ultra high temp applications, ie. exhaust, heads...
