Garmin 276c GPS Mounting
Sooo after dealing with my Magellan Road Mate 700 for as long as I could stand I lent it to my brother for a road trip and it comes back broken. Damn I thought time for the GPS I really wanted. The Garmin 276c and the 376c are identical except for the 376 model has the ability with hardware to receive XM weather imagery. I checked though sounding like a cool feature $200 for the 1st month service and $100 there after from xm for the XM Weather then $800 for the XM weather receiver lets see what we are up to. Xm service 1 yr. $1300+ XM + $800 for XM weather receiver+ 376c $900ish = more than it will cost me to run my wireless card in my laptop and place multiple phone calls to get an upfate on weather. So I opted for the 276c just as cool without expensive temptation. I like how the gys over at Slee Offroad have mounted there GPS units in the past and gave me a few ideas. http://sleeoffroad.com/technical/tz_gps.htm One being just mount it in front of the 4wd shifter and run the ext. antenna outside and magent it to the hood. Second was mod the overhead center console where the garage door remote goes, but is occupied by my glasses, then run the ext. antenna out side and to the hood. I could put it on the dash but would prefer something a bit more sturdy, I have had them fall off the dash at high speed bumps ok ok so its a 4runner not so high speed. ANy thoughts pictures whatever would help thanks again.

not sure what a 2/376 model is all about but I tried for a long time to get my Garmin Rino 130 windshield mount to hold and never did. So I took the clip part off the mount and used a black small zip tie to attach the clip to the center/driver's side/ac vent. This way the vent still works and the gps is in a great spot to see for the driver. The windshield is angled enough that I have not had any problem getting all the satelites for good reception.
Not the best pic but it is all I have right now. Not sure if this helps out. Sounds kinda jerry rigged but it is real low key unless you look for it without the gps on it.

I know I have an oldschool GPS, but, I like mine here. I just drilled it in, and its stout. I just got back from Ocotillo (Desert) and it held up great... It even has a locking mechanism.
Don't have to flip around for it or anything, and when I don't need it, I can unscrew the main peice off the mount.

The ram mount has a decent suction I imagine, I know the factory one that came with my Magellan sucked. And not in the good way. The street pilot you have looks to be about the same size as the 276.
