Fuel Gauge

My fuel gauge showing full just about all the time. It does drop a bit, and even today it was close to half. From what I've read the problem is in the gauge and a part in the fuel tank.

Just wondering if it was worth to try changing out the gauge cluster or even if its possible to change out "circuit #3" in the cluster from a used cluster?

I'm not getting into changing the part in the tank. I'm fine with reading the kms, but I was planning to tow a trailer across the country, not going to happen with no fuel gauge!

Fuel Gauge

Yes, I've tried that. I was thinking about just changing the cluster out. I've actually found a page on the net that tells me how to test the gauge to see if the problem is in the gauge cluster or in the tank. I will be trying this soon.

@Drashed: Can you post a link to this article? I am also having trouble with the fuel gauge except my light comes on with only about 160 miles on the tank...but I still get about 100-120 more after the light. Not bad if you reset your gauge everytime (which I normally do anyway), its just annoying.

My 99 gas guage has gone back and forth that way for years. I honestly don't think there is a fix for it. I researched it for a long time and now I just use my trip odometer and fill up at 175 miles.
