Thumbs up Fuel Atomizer Article Up

Alan's (HaveBlue) write-up is up in the Tech section.

It is listed in the last catagory under Performance.

Awesome! Can't wait to read it. Did he also post the heat exchanger on there too?

Nope. I'll finish that tonight or tomorrow.

By the way, I used the heat exchanger on my 4Runner to ensure complete vaporization of the fuel from the Atomizer. It'll be a really short write-up. I can e-mail it if you want.
I haven't incorporated the heat exchanger into the main supply and I'm not sure that I will on my truck due to the supercharger and its requirements.

Yeah, I would love to hear all the details on the install. I haven't had a chance to read the fuel atomizer writeup yet, but I plan on it today. I can't wait to get it. My email address is chrisrademacher@fastmail.fm if you'd like to email the heat exchanger info. I'm not quite sure when you main supply of fuel versus your setup. What do you mean exactly?

Thanks Alan,

Chris

What I mean by that is I did not cut either the main fuel supply line or the fuel return line for this modification. I routed the fuel vapor hose from the Fuel Atomizer to the heat exchanger to optimize vaporization of the fuel from the unit.
I drove the 4Runner all last week. Coincidentally, it was also the snowiest week we've seen in Colorado for a while. All my driving was typically less than 40 mph and most of it was in 4WD. When I filled up, I calculated 17.9 mpg. Without the Fuel Atomizer/heat exchanger, the same kind of driving would yield 13-15 mpg.
I'm really anxious to see my results when the weather warms up and the oxiginated fuel in Colorado is replaced with normal fuel.

I did install the heat exchanger into the main fuel supply line on my Escort and notice a slight gain (typically 2-3 mpg). I think I would have gained more if I had have relocated the fuel pressure regulator somewhere before the exchanger. This way, the pressure is relieved before entering the exchanger. But, doing so would have left a gaping hole on the fuel rail.
If you are interested in that one, I can draft a write-up for that and do my best to incorporate the 4Runner into it.
I do plan on purchasing another Fuel Atomizer for my Escort with the group buy I have going. My attempts previously to install the Atomizer on my Escort were foiled by metal fuel lines. Now that I have figured a way around those, I can reap the benefits.

If you have the time, I would like to know what the best setup would be for the 4Runner in your opinion. It sounds like the way you currently have it might not be the absolute best, so I figure if I'm going to do them both at the same time, I might as well do it the most complete and possibly the best way possible. What do you think?

I didn't install the exchanger into the main fue line because I am still experimenting with the one on my Escort. If I can toy with that one and gain a lot of mileage, I may change my mind and decide to install one into the main fuel line.
I know the current setup I have is not the absolute best. I'm just taking it one step at a time, marking my results, and taking another step.
My $.02: Install the heat exchanger OR the Fuel Atomizer first. I wouldn't install both at the same time. That way you can note which had the biggest gain. It'll also make it easier to trouble shoot in the event something starts to go wrong.

Thanks Alan! I'll install the fuel atomizer as soon as we make the purchase. Just let me know when you plan to do it, and I'll send the money to you. I'd also like to hear what's involved on the install for the heat exchanger too.

Thanks,

Chris

I plan on placing the order during the last week of March.
I'm working on the heat exchanger write-up during every spare minute I have a work and home. Unoftunately, I've been getting out work late and haven't been able to dedicate as much time as I'd like to anything.
You will be the first to know when I finish it.
