I've always thought what is the point of people carrying spare tires.
#1) Most factory tire irons would break if the lugs were put on by an impact wrench yielding mechanic.
#2) Most would have same problem that COSTCO had.
I bet we would save millions barrels of oil each day by taking out the weight of useless spares

I don't understand. Why are spare tires a waste of space? What do you do if you get a flat while your in the middle of nowhere?
Unless of course AAA guy comes with a 20lb sledge

I had this problem before, I used a hammer (on the tire sidewall) to knock the suckers lose. Yes I know that's not good for the sidewall, but rockcrawling is probably worse, and I'm upgrading to 32x12.50 soon I hope

Thanks for all the ideas I tried the PB blaster and tried jacking it up and kicking like hell but it still wouldnt budge. Took Mikes advice and took it to Midas for a brake inspection and they got them off. And just as I expected I need brakes also
I did finally get my tires put on and so far so good. I was thinking of selling the Runner this spring and getting a 99 Runner but now I might just keep it for another year.
