I did the maglite mount mod on my 4runner about a year ago. It is really easy, I got the brackets from amazon.com.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...lance&n=228013

That is the one I bought, they have some new automotive mount but the general one works fine. You'll have to buy some nuts and bolts from the hardware store to make them mount correctly, and you'll need a drill and a center punch. I mounted mine on the metal seat bracket. You just find where you want to put the mounts use the center punch then drill the holes and mount the brackets. If you want more of a description on how to do it, just message me.

No problem... they seem to work quite well.

I converted one of my "D"cell maglites to LED. Took about 2 minutes... Big difference. Longer bulb life, longer battery life.

I think I bought the bulbs from pocketlights.com

I was thinking it was hard to do, all you so is go to www.pocketlights.com and buy the replacement bulb. I was thinking the same thing basically when I seen those pictures on the 1st page (lots of work), but just a replacement.

Edit, just seen your edit.

I'm with you SnoViking! I've been thinking of getting a nice compact & bright light but, I know that 3D Maglight will still be in there close at hand .

I stopped buying Mag-lites and starting to buy the Inova brand. Currently got a couple of X-5's and a T2 I just picked up.

The T2 will use my old red filters and caps from the AA Mag-Lite.

I gotta admit though. Having a reliable flashlight that uses AA batterie has it appeal though.

I have a BassPro close to me ill go there for the mounts, Thanks everyone.
As far as the l.e.d bulbs are concerned they are good for close up lighting and not so good for distance, they dont have much of a beem.

That is what I thought until I got my T2 from Inova. A different lense design than a normal LED.

At least check them out before you rule them out.
