CASTAIC 4RUNNER, 4.56s would be okay for city driving with 265/75s...just as 4.88s and 33's are in the city. It's when you get on the hwy to drive at higher speeds is when it becomes an issue. I am not saying I would do it, but it could be done.
Granted, you can drive 4.56s with 32s on the hwy, but your rpms will be higher than normal. If you do a lot of towing or heavy hauling then I would imagine 4.56s would be great with 32s. However, if you do not do the above much at all, then I would stick with 4.10s or 4.30s with 32s.
I still have my stock 4.10s with 32s and hwy driving is still fairly good. Good enough that I do not see the need to have 4.56s with 32s.
Ric has 4.88s and 33s and he is okay with driving on the hwy. Said his rpms just rev higher at higher speeds. He also off roads a good bit so I am sure he likes the extra lower gearing.

you already have 265/75s right? the biggest diff is from 70s to 75s from 265s to 285s is not much more of a difference.

Holy $hyt,,,, well not that much Lets see after time and aggravation we won't count that. I still haven't received the labor bill but the parts were ...
Aussie Locker front $250
Detroit Tru-Trac rear
4.56 F&R + master kits $1150
Manual hub swap $1000 +/-
Marlin flange adapter $35 + overnight $50
soo yeah alot then to top it all off I bought a ARB bumper off ebay for $400 so it's expensive to regear but the power is there and the mileage (I drive btwn 60-75) is not bad at all, seriously the first time I've seen 280 miles before the fuel light.

Live and learn! Thats all that can be done. I'm not a huge fan of 4WP but should have gone there and had them done it. Though I though my approach was simple enough it really turned into a nightmare.

alright guys, here are the pics from the FIRST TIME out with the new gears and rear locker, and let me just say that the rear locker helps out SOOO much!!! it made previously difficult obstacles seem like a cake walk!
approaching obstacle

front tire lifts off the ground

tire lifts off a little more

a little more

at this point i would not have even known my rear tire was off the ground if i wasnt teetering on two wheels

can we say STUFFED?
