Fender Liner Mod

So after chopping off nearly the whole rear section of my fender liners to get rid of my rubbing issues I decided to rip em out completely and under coat the insides of my fenders...what do you guys think?

I liek it. I was thinking of doing the same thing on my truck. I'm currently running with the fender lining removed but that's just laziness from my rebuild. What did you use to spray it with? I was thinking of the rustoleum hammered black oaint just like I did to my interior.

looking good, any updates on how she's driving after the new tire? Powerloss, mileage, etc???

Hey Morph- I used Bondo rubberized undercoating, pretty gross stuff its good once its on but it fills the air with vaporized rubber and I've still got it on my skin after 2 days of scrubbin with fast orange and a brush...works good though. On the tire side I'm definately glad I rebuilt it and did the power mods its suprisingly very liveable on the street, highway even hills at 70 it doesn't slow up can still make it up all the hills in the same gear as before, mileage dropped about 3 mpg...offroad is a diff story though, gotta use 4 lo for stuff I could use 4 hi before even if I could make it through in 2wd just can't pull up the ledges etc...oh well small sacrifice for the traction will be regearin sometime in the future, probably mid summer when I lock it.

I'm cutting mine too, and then lining it with line-x or rhino lining

Looks good. I think I'll probably do the same.

I'm going to check the pricing on the truck gaurd ultra(supposed to be a lot better than line-x and rhino, made by bondo) tomorrow, hopefully get some dents pulled out, and then get my windshield replaced. My wife is wanting me to paint it before she has to start driving it, but I think not. I figure if I sell her car soon, she won't have any choice but to drive my 4runner. Ha ha! So, I'll let you guys know what I find out on pricing tomorrow to coat the fender flare areas and rocker panels.

Well, my first quote I got was $600, so I'm going to check with Line-X also, to see what they say. Hopefully their considerably cheaper. Damn!

I'm guessing Line-X will be either the same or more...just judging by what other people have gotten estimates for. Good luck...I would do the same thing, but I'd rather put that money away for a S/C later on down the road.

If it was me, I'd just paint it with spray paint, but since my wife is going to be driving it, it's gotta look pretty! I figure once I sell my limited flares for $200, $400 isn't all that bad to get this done.

Chris

P.S. I used to have a S/C, but now Iv'e set this thing up 100% for off-roading, and the extra power just increases the potential for breaking.
