Fan pulley/Bracket

Well my 4runner is at 300K miles / 7000 hours engine hours and the fan pulley bracket's bearing is starting to make noise and doesn't have much longer.

The dealer price is totally insane at $700 and I don't want to get a junkyard pull and end up with the same problem again in a couple of months. I know the bearing is just about impossible to replace so the whole housing must be replaced.

So now here in my question who makes a good aftermarket bracket. The only two I can find is 4 Seasons from RockAuto for $115 and one made by Dorman for $150 from Autozone and Oreilly auto.

I've heard bad things about the aftermarket ones but its always been no-name stuff from China from E-Bay.

So has anyone had any experience with the 4seasons or Dorman part?

I have yet to replace the fan pulley bracket in my 4 runner; my experience with both Dorman and 4 seasons had been applicable only to domestic autos. That said, the AC and gasket pieces I used lasted between 2 & 3 years. And that was ten years ago, probably not made overseas.

If I was going to get another vehichle in the next 12~18 months, I'd buy the Dorman. Otherwise, spend $384 plus shipping to get the OEM bracket from 1sttoyotaparts.com if used is not an option....

Do either one come with a warranty?

I've had fantastic experience with Rock Auto as far as customer service and taking back parts that didn't work, etc. As far as the 4 Seasons brand, I can't comment.

Dorman makes good fasteners. Seems like I've used those for years and years and always been impressed with how well they hold up.

Sorry, that's the only info I have. I think I personally would get the 4 Seasons from Rock Auto, and give it a shot.

Well after poking around a bit more I found that AISIN company who is the OEM for allot of Toyota parts makes one. Its the same one you get from the dealer only without all the pulleys and its only $130..

The part number is FBT-004 and there are several sellers on the web that sell them. When I spoke to one seller he told me that AISIN isn't making them anymore so its limited to "new old stock". So if your 4runner is getting up there might want to pick one up.

I'm also going to change out the A/C idler/tensioner pulley while I'm in there. Its only $25 and easy to replace.
