Fan blades broke

I went wheeling yesterday and somehow broke 2 of the blades off my radiator fan. (97 4runner) My friend said it may have happend because of the big mud pits I went into, but I'm confused on how that would break the fan? Is there a beefier fan I can put on there? Where should I get a new or used fan to replace my broken one? The whole truck is very shakey when in idle because of the fan and I'm not quite sure if I should be driving it while it is like this. The temperature seems to be ok though. Any help would be great!

dont drive it until you replace that fan. if it comes apart, its taking parts with it.

I'd park it. The fan exploded in my old 91 and put a bunch of holes in the hood.

i had the same issue wit the broke fan but i got an electric fan actualy ,i think its juste the fact that u took a very serious bump offroad fast enough to move everything forward for a split second while the fan was working.

I found some replacement fan blades online but I'm unsure if I should just get the oem replacement or if I should get a Dorman high quality one. Anyone know if its any better?

get OEM only. That aftermarket junk is cheap and will shatter must faster than factory. Their "high quality" is equal to toyotas lowest quality, catch what I mean? For a well known problem area, dont risk it. You dont want that fan exploding and taking out your radiatior, hoses, fuse block, etc etc. That stuff gets spendy quick.

Look at it this way: Save a little now, pay a lot more later OR Pay a little more now, save a LOT later

I just went out and looked at the damage again, and I noticed that a section of the radiator has been gashed by the broken fan blade. The indent is about 2 inches long. Do I need a new radiator now also!?!?

Well if it was me, if it isn't leaking, I leave it be for now.

if its not leaking, its fine. but be sure to pressurize and check for leaks. often they wont leak until pressure (IE warmed up, or forced air pressure from a tester) is applied
