May be picking this up today, its really clean and seems well maintained for $4500

The exterior and interior look really nice. Depends if the HG recall has been done.

 

Supposedly it has, He bought it from the original owner & has most of the paper work, new timing belt & clutch with in the last 40k also, 95% solid, only sign of rust is a some begining to develop at the top of the rear door & a small bubble at the rear fender, but the rest is solid & straight.
Goin to pick it up now, soon to be my slowest vehicle ever! (quite a change from a GTI VR6

 

Looks pretty good...although it sounds like it may have seen a lot of snow driving and that always brings up the thought of salt...I would check the frame and undercarriage carefully for any signs of rust, that stuff can hide from you amazingly well!

I'd not pay that much for a 91. If it was in GREAT condition with no rust or other signs of wear I might pay close to 5. With rust showing, i'd keep it down closer to 4.

If the headgaskets have not been done then its a no go...if they have and he has documentation on those being done as well all the other things you have listed then I would say it would be pretty good. I got my '95 for $7,800 with no paper work at all...and its a great truck!

got my 90 pickup for $1,500 put about $500 more in and it runs great but that is a p-up not a 4-run

 

Well I ended up picking it up for $4250, drove it up north in MI over the weekend, over 500mi round trip & she ran good (but slow of course) got about 18mpg for mostly e-way driving, is that about average?
Has a mild vibration round 60-70, depending on the surface of the road, I'm guessing may partially be attributed to the dry rotting goodyear on it & its about ready for an exhaust, 2 things I would want to replace anyway. Its a little hesitant on shifting when cold but fine once it warms up.
The cruise control goes out after a few min, I have to look into that, any ideas on fixin that?
Lookin fwd to gettin it off road in a week or 2 though.

 

Check the trouble codes for the cruise control problem.

i thought the head gasket thing on the 3.0's were ongoing? meaning, no matter how long ago it was, you can still get it done? am i wrong?

 

I would personaly check about the "special service campagine" and if it is still covered I would wait and see what it does. Why open a motor that has made it that far with out blowing a gasket?? Heck, not every 3.nogo blows a gasket. You may have one that will never pop its cork..

 

IGNORE KBB WHEN IT COMES TO THESE VEHICLES, the dealers offer $2500, for CLEAN XLNT! condition SR5s, Then the mechanics Fight over them. Those same vehicles here, 1989-95 , go from 4500-8900.

That's hard to believe. But then again people pay big money all the time for stuff and I just can't understand.

 

Yeah I put my stuff on KBB (chrome wheels, oversized tires, tow package, tinted windows, premium sound, cruise control, power everything still works) and with excellent condition which is what mine is, it said $7,000. Of course trade-in value is much less like $4... something but still, one in great condition with low miles and tastefully kept up with, could fetch $8k in my eyes..
